Trap Shack is an outer-exposed rock drop-off off Sooke, British Columbia, where the bottom falls away through depths of 80 to 200 feet. The structure draws Chinook Salmon, which peak from June through August, alongside Coho Salmon that hold from June into October. Trolling works the drop-off edge with anchovy, herring, trolling spoons, and hootchies, tracking the transition where the rock breaks into deeper water. Mooching a cut-plug or whole herring along the same contour targets Chinook holding tight to the structure, while jigging metal jigs reaches fish stacked in the deeper part of the range. For Coho, trolling spoons, hootchies, anchovies, and flashers cover water across the exposed face, with bucktailing offering a surface option through the summer peak.
