Morpheus Island sits off Tofino, British Columbia, where a rock drop-off falls through mid-exposure water from the surface to about 45 feet. Pacific Halibut peak from March through June and respond to drift jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics or metal jigs, while bait fishing the bottom with whole herring, salmon heads, or octopus covers the deeper edges. Lingcod build through May to August and hold tight to the rock, where jigging with metal jigs, soft plastic swimbaits, and leadhead jigs works the structure. Copper Rockfish stay active February through October along the same broken bottom, taking metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and swimbaits. Chinook Salmon run May through August and Coho follow from June into October, both worked by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons across the drop-off.
