Thompson Rock is an outer-exposed pinnacle off Tofino, British Columbia, rising from rock bottom across a depth range of 260 to 660 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from May through August, alongside Pacific Halibut running strongest March through June and a mix of Canary, China, and Copper Rockfish that stay active February through October. Anglers work the pinnacle for Lingcod with jigs, including metal jigs, soft plastic swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, while drift jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics or metal jigs covers the deeper edges for Halibut. Chinook Salmon build through May to August and Coho follow from June into October, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, or spoons over the exposed rock. The depth and hard structure concentrate fish along the pinnacle, rewarding vertical presentations that reach the bottom on the rockfish and Lingcod.
