STRUCTURE
Pinnacle
Outer Exposed

Janit Reef is an outer-exposed rock pinnacle off Ucluelet, British Columbia, rising through depths of 60 to 180 feet. The structure holds Pacific Halibut, which peak from April through August, alongside Lingcod that peak from March through May and Chinook Salmon running from May through August. Rougheye and Shortraker Rockfish, Pacific Cod, and Sablefish also work the rock and deeper edges here. Halibut respond to drift jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics or metal jigs across the pinnacle, while bottom bait fishing with whole herring, salmon heads, or octopus covers the deeper margins. Lingcod hold tight to the rock and take metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs worked through the mid-column, and Chinook are trolled with anchovy, herring, or spoons along the exposed structure.
