Mara Rock is an outer-exposed pinnacle off Ucluelet, British Columbia, where rock structure rises through 60 to 180 feet of water. The pinnacle holds Lingcod, which peak from March through May, alongside Pacific Halibut that build from April into August across the deeper bottom. Anglers work the rock for Lingcod with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, while Halibut come on drift jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics or metal jigs over the same ground. Copper and Quillback Rockfish hold on the structure year-round and respond to jigging with metal jigs and soft plastic swimbaits. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and Coho from May into September, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons across the exposed water.
