Sail Rock is an exposed pinnacle off Ucluelet, British Columbia, where rock structure rises through depths of 40 to 120 feet in outer, open water. The pinnacle holds Pacific Halibut from April through August and Lingcod from March through May, while Canary, Copper, Quillback, and Black Rockfish work the rock year-round, with Black Rockfish peaking May through September. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and Coho from May to September, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons across the surrounding water. Anglers drift jig leadhead jigs with soft plastics or metal jigs for halibut over the deeper rock, and work metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs tight to the structure for lingcod and rockfish. The exposed setting and hard bottom concentrate fish along the pinnacle's edges, where jigging and bottom bait fishing both produce.
