Alley Rock is an exposed rocky pinnacle off Ucluelet, British Columbia, rising through water that runs 100 to 135 feet deep on the outer coast. The structure holds a strong resident population of bottomfish, with lingcod peaking from March through May and black rockfish concentrating from May into September, alongside year-round copper and quillback rockfish. Anglers work the pinnacle with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits dropped tight to the rock, while bait fishing with whole herring, squid, or octopus takes lingcod and bottom-holding rockfish. Pacific halibut move through from April to August and respond to drift jigging over the deeper edges, and salmon fishing turns on in summer, with Chinook trolling well on anchovy, herring, and spoons from May to August and coho following through September. The outer-exposed setting and hard rock bottom make this a structure-focused fishery where holding position over the pinnacle matters as much as bait choice.
