The Hump 0.5 km W of Brown Rock is an outer-exposed rocky pinnacle off Winter Harbour, British Columbia, rising through waters that run 145 to 420 feet deep. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from February through April and again from June through August, alongside Pacific Halibut in their May-through-August window and Black Rockfish that stay active May through September. Chinook Salmon move through from April to August and Coho from May to September, with the pinnacle also giving up Canary Rockfish, Chilipepper, and Pacific Cod. Anglers work the rock and its edges by jigging metal jigs, leadhead jigs with soft plastics, or swimbaits for Lingcod and Black Rockfish, while drift jigging with leadhead jigs and swimbaits covers the deeper contours for Halibut. Salmon fishing centers on trolling anchovy, herring, hoochies, and spoons over and around the structure, with mooching cut-plug herring a workable alternative through the peak months.
