STRUCTURE
Pinnacle
Outer Exposed

Pilley Shoal is a rock pinnacle rising from the outer exposed waters off Winter Harbour, British Columbia, with depths running from 145 to 420 feet. Pacific Halibut hold here through their May to August peak, while Lingcod come on strong from February to April and again from June to August across the rocky structure. Chinook Salmon move through from April to August and Coho follow from May into September, alongside resident Rosy Rockfish, Shortraker Rockfish, and Pacific Cod. Anglers work the pinnacle for halibut with drift jigging using leadhead jigs, swimbaits, or metal jigs, and drop metal or leadhead jigs tipped with soft plastics for lingcod tight to the rock. Salmon are taken by trolling anchovy, herring, hoochies, or spoons through the upper water column over the same exposed ground.
