Distances are in a straight line, not by water.

Spud Point Hump is a rocky pinnacle rising from the outer, exposed waters off Bodega Bay, holding structure across a depth range of 50 to 85 feet. The rock draws Lingcod, which peak from July through February, alongside aggregate Rockfish that run strongest May through October and Pacific Halibut from April through September. Anglers work the pinnacle for Lingcod with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, or drop live rockfish and squid tight to the rock. Rockfish come on bait fishing with squid, shrimp flies, and cut bait over the same broken bottom, with jigging and drop-shotting plastic grubs as alternatives. Chinook Salmon move through in the April to August window and respond to trolling anchovies, spoons, and hoochies across the exposed edge.
