About Duncans Point
Duncans Point is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off off Bodega Bay, California, where the bottom falls away through depths of 260 to 660 feet. Chinook Salmon run strongest from April through August and California Halibut peak in the same window, while Coho Salmon build through the summer and hold into November and Lingcod stay productive from July into February. Blue, Black, and Canary Rockfish work the rocky structure alongside California Scorpionfish and Pacific Bonito. Trolling anchovies, spoons, hoochies, and flashers covers the salmon over the deeper water, and mooching with anchovies or herring works the same fish when they hold tighter to the drop. For Lingcod, jigging metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs down along the rock accounts for most of the fish, with live rockfish or squid as a supporting approach.
