About East Rock

East Rock sits off Crescent City, California, an outer-exposed rocky drop-off falling through depths of 330 to 1310 feet. Chinook Salmon draw anglers from April through September, with Coho Salmon in the mix, while Lingcod come on strong from February through March and again from August through October. Rockfish hold along the structure and peak from May through September, alongside Canary Rockfish, Sablefish, Pacific Halibut, and Pacific Cod that comes into its own from November through January. Trolling anchovies, herring, trolling spoons, or hoochies works the salmon over this rocky exposure, with mooching whole anchovies or cut herring as a supporting approach. Lingcod respond to jigging metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs against the rock, and Rockfish come to bottom fishing with shrimp flies, squid strips, or metal jigs across the drop-off.
