STRUCTURE

Outer Exposed

Soldier Point is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off off Fort Bragg, California, where the bottom falls away through depths of roughly 260 to 660 feet. The rock structure holds Rockfish and Lingcod, with rockfish concentrating from April through September and lingcod peaking in January and February and again in August and September. Chinook Salmon move through the same waters from April into September, drawing anglers who troll anchovies, herring, and spoons or work whole anchovies on the mooching drift. Anglers targeting the reef fish drop shrimp flies, squid strips, and metal jigs to the bottom for rockfish, while jigging metal jigs and swimbaits or working live rockfish and squid takes lingcod along the ledges. Cabezon share the same rock, peaking in spring and again in fall, and hold to bottom-fished squid, shrimp, and crab.
