About Pescadero Point
Pescadero Point is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off off Monterey, California, where the bottom falls away through depths of 260 to 660 feet. The rock structure holds Rockfish, which peak from April through October, along with Lingcod that run strongest in November through January, March through May, and again in September and October. Chinook Salmon move through from March to July, while California Halibut favor the shallower edges from March into September. Anglers work the deep rock for rockfish with squid strips, shrimp flies, and cut mackerel, and jig metal jigs or swimbaits for lingcod along the same structure. Salmon are taken by trolling anchovies, spoons, and flashers over the drop-off, with halibut drifted on live anchovies and sardines closer to the bottom.
