Point Pinos Hump is a rocky pinnacle rising from the outer, exposed waters off Monterey, holding structure across depths of 60 to 120 feet. The rock draws a strong rockfish presence, with Copper Rockfish peaking July through September alongside resident Quillback and Bronzespotted Rockfish. Lingcod work the same terrain through their extended peaks in November to January, March to May, and September to October, while Chinook Salmon pass through from March to July. Anglers target the copper rockfish over the pinnacle with bait fishing using squid, shrimp flies, anchovies, or sardines, and jigging with metal jigs and swimbaits pulls lingcod off the rock. For salmon moving through the water column, trolling anchovies, spoons, hoochies, and flashers covers ground over the exposed structure.
