About Lime Point
Lime Point sits on the outer-exposed side of San Francisco at the mouth of the bay, where a rocky drop-off falls through depths of 80 to 200 feet. The structure holds Chinook Salmon at their peak from April through September, with Lingcod concentrated in February and March and again from August through October, and California Halibut running strong from April into August. Anglers troll whole anchovy, spoons, and flashers through the water column for Chinook, while jigging metal jigs and swimbaits over the rock accounts for Lingcod along the drop. Halibut hold near the bottom on the sand-and-rock margins, taken on drifted live anchovies or shiner perch. Black and Blue Rockfish work the same reef through summer, with shrimp fly rigs and metal jigs producing over the deeper edges, and Striped Bass move through on the trolled swimbaits and plugs from June into October.
