Old Alameda Point sits in the inner protected waters of San Francisco, marking a mud-bottom drop-off that runs from roughly 15 to 45 feet. Chinook Salmon move through from April to September, while Striped Bass hold from June through October and California Halibut peak from April into August. Trolling whole anchovy, spoons, or hoochies works the drop-off edge for Chinook, and deep-diving plugs or swimbaits pull Stripers along the same contour. Halibut respond to drift fishing with live anchovies and shiner perch across the mud flat where the depth shelves off. Leopard Shark, Bat Ray, English Sole, and Starry Flounder also work this bottom throughout the season.
