About Everglades Island Hump
Everglades Island Hump is an exposed rock pinnacle off Jupiter, Florida, sitting in 60 to 120 feet of water within the Southeast Region of Florida's Atlantic state waters. Mutton Snapper peak from April through June, while Yellowtail Snapper, Gray Snapper, and Common Snook build on the rock from May, with yellowtail running through August and snook and gray snapper peaking through July. King Mackerel push across the hump in March and April and again in October and November, and Crevalle Jack round out the mix. Chumming and flatlining with cut ballyhoo or glass minnows draws yellowtail up off the pinnacle, while bottom fishing with live pilchards or squid works the rock for mutton and gray snapper. Slow trolling live goggle eyes or live blue runners along the edges of the hump targets kings, and live bait drifting with live pilchards or live pinfish puts baits in front of snook.
