About Peanut Island
Peanut Island is a sand-bottom drop-off near Jupiter, Florida, where exposed outer water falls from the shallows to about 45 feet. Common Snook peak from May through July, and Gray Snapper share the same window. Yellowtail Snapper run strongest from May to August, and Mutton Snapper peak from April through June. King Mackerel move through in two pulses, March–April and October–November, while Crevalle Jack round out the mix. Live bait drifting with live pilchards, live mullet, or live shrimp works the drop-off edge for snook, and chumming and flatlining with cut ballyhoo or glass minnows draws yellowtail up from the sand bottom in the deeper water.
