About Black Ledge
Black Ledge is an outer exposed rock-bottom flat off Miami, Florida, where hard bottom sits in 10 to 25 feet of water within the Southeast Region of Florida's Atlantic state waters. Bonefish peak here from March through May and again in September and October, while permit and tarpon share the same March-to-May window. Common snook peak from May through July, and crevalle jack round out the lineup. Bonefish anglers rely on sight casting with live shrimp, shrimp-tipped jigs, and small bucktail jigs, while permit respond to live bait fishing with live crabs and live shrimp worked along the rock. Tarpon and snook fall to live bait drifting with live pilchards, live mullet, and live shrimp, and casting artificials such as soft plastic swimbaits and bucktail jigs covers the ledge when fish spread across the flat.
