About Turbine Stacks Reef

Turbine Stacks Reef is an artificial reef in federal Atlantic waters off Miami, Florida, where the structure holds both bottom-dwelling reef species and passing pelagics. Black Grouper and Greater Amberjack hold tight to the reef, while Mutton Snapper peak from April through June and respond to bottom fishing with live ballyhoo, live pilchards, cut bait, or squid. Drift fishing with live pilchards or cut ballyhoo and jigging with bucktail jigs or slow-pitch jigs also work the structure for snapper. Above the reef, Dorado peak from March through July and King Mackerel from November through March, with slow trolling live goggle eyes or blue runners drawing kings off the structure. Wahoo arrive in force from September through December, and anglers target them by high-speed trolling weighted trolling lures and bullet-head lures along the reef's edges.
