About Fair Point
Fair Point is an outer-exposed drop-off off Pensacola, Florida, in the Panhandle Region of Florida's Gulf state waters, where mixed bottom falls away through depths of 260 to 660 feet. Spanish Mackerel run here from April through October, Gray Snapper peak from May through August, Red Drum peak in September and October, and Sheepshead take over from January through March, with Common Snook also on the target list. The mixed bottom along the drop-off suits bottom fishing, with live shrimp and cut bait working for Gray Snapper and fiddler crabs and sand fleas working for Sheepshead. Anglers often add a chum line with frozen chum or cut bait to pull snapper up off the structure. Over the open water above the edge, trolling small spoons and straw rigs covers ground for Spanish Mackerel through their long warm-season window.
