The Hump 0.6 km south of Tillamook Rock is a rocky pinnacle rising from the outer, exposed waters off Astoria, Oregon, with depths ranging from the surface down to about 165 feet. Chinook Salmon peak here in March and April and again from May through September, while Coho Salmon move through from July into October, and both are worked by trolling cut-plug or whole herring behind flashers, with mooching a productive alternative over the structure. Lingcod hold tight to the rock and peak from January through March, taken by jigging metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, or by dropping live greenling and rockfish along the pinnacle. Pacific Halibut peak from March through August and respond to drift fishing herring, salmon bellies, squid, and octopus across the deeper edges. The exposed rock also supports Bocaccio, Yellowtail, Canary, and Widow Rockfish that stack along the vertical relief from the shallows down to the 165-foot base.
