Hump 1.1 km SW of Tillamook Rock is a rocky pinnacle rising from an outer, exposed stretch of the Oregon coast off Astoria, with depths running from 90 to 170 feet. The structure holds lingcod, which peak from January through March, alongside a mix of rockfish including yelloweye, canary, and widow. Pacific halibut move over the deeper edges from March through August, while Chinook salmon run March through April and again May through September, followed by coho from July through October. Lingcod respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs worked close to the rock, and live bait fishing with greenling or herring draws fish off the pinnacle's high points. Halibut come to drift fishing with herring, salmon bellies, squid, or octopus along the surrounding bottom, and salmon are worked by trolling cut-plug herring, whole herring, and flashers through the water column above the structure.
