STRUCTURE
Drop Off
Outer Exposed

Cannery Point is an outer-exposed drop-off off Florence, Oregon, where a sand bottom falls through depths of 15 to 50 feet. The structure holds Pacific Halibut at their peak from April through September and Lingcod that peak January through April, alongside Cabezon, Black Rockfish, and both Chinook and Coho Salmon through the summer and early fall. Anglers working the drop-off for halibut rely on drift fishing with herring, salmon bellies, octopus, or squid, while jigging with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and swimbaits produces along the same edges for Lingcod, Cabezon, and Black Rockfish. Salmon runs favor trolling cut-plug herring, anchovies, spoons, and flashers with hoochies over this exposed ground from June onward. Dungeness Crab move in through the fall, peaking September to November, taken in crab pots baited with fish carcasses, squid, or clams.
