Hump 3.1 km NW of North Spit is a rocky pinnacle rising from the outer, exposed waters off Winchester Bay, Oregon, in depths of 75 to 100 feet. The structure holds Pacific halibut, which peak from March through August, alongside lingcod that peak January through March and a mix of rockfish including yelloweye, widow, yellowtail, canary, and copper. Chinook salmon move through from June to September and coho from June to October. Anglers work halibut by drifting herring, salmon bellies, squid, or octopus over the pinnacle, and turn to jigging with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, or swimbaits for lingcod holding tight to the rock. Salmon come to trolled cut-plug herring, whole herring, anchovies, and flashers with hoochies through the summer and fall runs.
