Hump 4.1 km W of North Spit is a rocky pinnacle rising from the outer, exposed waters off Winchester Bay, Oregon, holding structure across depths of 75 to 100 feet. The rock draws Chinook Salmon from June through September and Coho Salmon from June into October, with both worked most effectively by trolling cut-plug herring, whole herring, or flashers with hoochies through the water column above the structure. Lingcod concentrate on the pinnacle from January through March and respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, while aggregate Rockfish hold tight to the same rock year-round. Pacific Halibut move over the deeper edges from March through August, where drift fishing herring, salmon bellies, or squid covers ground between rises. Pacific Cod arrive from September through November and take shrimp flies and cut bait fished along the bottom, and Sablefish round out the deeper catch.
