The Hump at 43.82599, -124.22912 is a rocky pinnacle rising from the outer, exposed seafloor off Winchester Bay, Oregon, in depths of 70 to 80 feet. Pacific Halibut hold over this structure from March through August, while Lingcod peak in the cold-water window of January through March and Pacific Cod move in from September through November. Chinook and Coho Salmon pass through in summer, with Chinook strongest June through September and Coho running June into October. Anglers work the rock with jigging using metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs for Lingcod, and drift fishing herring, salmon bellies, squid, or octopus for halibut across the pinnacle's edges. Salmon are taken by trolling cut-plug herring, whole herring, or flashers with hoochies through the water column above the structure.
