About Bolivar Roads Channel Hump
Bolivar Roads Channel Hump is a mixed-bottom pinnacle rising from 25 to 45 feet of water in the exposed outer reach of the Galveston Bay System off Galveston, Texas. Sheepshead and Black Drum stack on the structure from January through March, when bottom fishing with live shrimp, fiddler crabs, and barnacles works the hump's broken edges. Spotted Seatrout move onto the rise from March through May and respond to live shrimp and live croaker presented under popping cork rigs. Red Drum peak from August through October, and drift fishing with live finger mullet or cut mullet covers the slopes as current sweeps across the pinnacle. Southern Flounder close out the year from September through November, holding tight to the bottom where jigging soft plastic paddle tails on jigheads draws strikes along the hump's base.
