About Galveston Fishing Pier
Galveston Fishing Pier is a pier extending into Texas Gulf State Waters off Galveston, Texas, giving anglers access to open Gulf water from a fixed structure. Sheepshead and Black Drum peak from January through March, and both respond to bottom fishing with live shrimp, fiddler crabs, or fresh dead shrimp worked close to the pilings. Spotted Seatrout follow from March through May, when live bait fishing with live shrimp or live croaker under popping cork rigs is the dominant approach. Spanish Mackerel hold from April through October, and casting small metal spoons, diamond jigs, or gotcha plugs from the pier deck targets their fast-moving schools. Red Drum peak from August through October and Southern Flounder from September through November, with drift fishing using live finger mullet for reds and jigging soft plastic paddle tails on jigheads for flounder.
