Buckeye Shoal is an outer-exposed sand flat off Anacortes, Washington, in DFO subarea 7, holding depths of 40 to 80 feet. The shoal draws Pacific Halibut through its March to July peak, with Chinook Salmon building from June into August and Coho Salmon running June through October. Lingcod concentrate over the bottom in February and March, while Black Rockfish hold across the flat from May into August. Anglers work halibut by drift fishing herring, salmon bellies, squid, or octopus across the sand, and switch to jigging metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs for lingcod and black rockfish. Salmon respond to trolling cut-plug herring, whole herring, flashers, and spoons over the same open ground.
