Carter Point is a rocky drop-off in DFO subarea 7 off Anacortes, Washington, where the bottom falls from 80 to 200 feet along mid-exposure structure. Lingcod hold over the rock and peak from February through March, while Pacific halibut move through from March into July and take drift-fished herring, salmon bellies, squid, or octopus worked along the slope. Black rockfish stack up near the structure from May through August, responding to metal jigs and leadhead jigs dropped tight to the rock. Chinook salmon run June through August and Coho from June into October, both worked by trolling flashers, spoons, and cut-plug herring through the water column above the drop. The steep transition from shallow rock to deep water concentrates fish across the depth range, making jigging and drift fishing the productive approaches here.
