About Reef Point Hump

Reef Point Hump is a rock pinnacle in Marine Area 7 off Oak Harbor, Washington, rising through mid-exposure water with depths running from 60 to 195 feet. The structure holds Pacific Halibut, which peak from March through June, and Lingcod, which peak from February through March, alongside Canary Rockfish, Pacific Ocean Perch, and Sablefish. Chinook and Coho Salmon move through the area from June through September. Anglers work the halibut with drift jigging using leadhead jigs, metal jigs, or soft plastic swimbaits, dropping bait such as herring or octopus over the rock when the drift calls for it. Lingcod hold tight to the pinnacle and respond to jigging with metal jigs and leadhead jigs paired with swimbaits, while salmon are taken by trolling flashers, spoons, hoochies, and cut plug herring across the water column above the structure.
