About Turn Rock Hump
Turn Rock Hump is a rocky pinnacle off Oak Harbor in Marine Area 7, rising from mid-exposure water with a working depth of 60 to 195 feet. The structure holds Pacific Halibut through their March to June peak and Lingcod at their best in February and March, alongside resident rockfish including Pacific Ocean Perch, Widow, and Canary. Anglers working the halibut drift jigging with leadhead jigs, metal jigs, or soft plastic swimbaits over the rock, while lingcod respond to jigging with metal jigs, leadhead jigs with swimbaits, or bucktail jigs tight to the pinnacle. From June through September, Chinook and Coho Salmon move through, taken by trolling flashers, spoons, hoochies, or cut plug herring across the hump. The rock relief and vertical range let anglers stagger presentations from the upper column down to the base as tide and target species dictate.
