The Hump at 48.17613, -123.0276 is a rocky pinnacle rising off Port Angeles, sitting at mid-exposure in 140 to 170 feet of water. Pacific halibut hold here through their March to August peak, while lingcod concentrate on the structure from January into April, sharing the reef with canary rockfish, bank rockfish, and Pacific cod. Chinook salmon move through from June to August and coho from June into September, adding a summer surface fishery over the same ground. Drift fishing herring, salmon bellies, octopus, or squid works the bottom for halibut, with leadhead or metal jigs and soft plastic swimbaits as an alternative along the rock. Lingcod respond to metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadheads over the pinnacle, and salmon come to trolled herring, spoons, flashers, and hootchies worked through the water column above the peak.
