Kuhn Spit is a protected sand flat off Port Townsend, Washington, sitting in DFO subarea 9 with depths running 5 to 25 feet. The spot draws Chinook Salmon at their peak from June through August and Coho Salmon from June into September, with Lingcod turning on over the sand from March through May. Chinook anglers work mooched cut-plug or whole herring across the shallow flat, while Coho respond to trolled flashers, hoochies, and trolling spoons through the same summer window. Lingcod hold near the bottom and take metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs worked through the 25-foot range. Dungeness Crab peaks from March through August here, taken in crab pots baited with fish carcasses, clams, or squid.
