Midchannel Bank Hump is a rocky pinnacle rising from the mid-exposure waters off Port Townsend, Washington, in DFO subarea 9, with depths running from 95 to 275 feet. The structure holds Pacific Halibut, which peak from March through July, alongside Lingcod peaking March through May, plus resident Canary Rockfish, Pacific Cod, and Sablefish. Chinook Salmon move through from June to August and Coho Salmon from June to September, adding a summer fishery over the same ground. Anglers work halibut with drift jigging using metal jigs, leadhead jigs with swimbaits, or herring, and drop bait to the bottom with salmon bellies, octopus, or squid when the drift slows. Lingcod respond to jigging with metal jigs and swimbaits across the rock, while Chinook take cut-plug herring on the mooching drift and Coho come to trolled flashers, hoochies, and spoons over the pinnacle.
