Admiralty Head sits off Port Townsend, Washington, in DFO subarea 9, where a rocky drop-off falls through outer, exposed water from 260 to 660 feet. The steep structure holds Chinook Salmon peaking June through August and Coho Salmon running June into September, with Pacific Halibut concentrated March through July and Lingcod best March through May. Anglers work cut-plug and whole herring on the mooch for Chinook, while trolling flashers, hoochies, and spoons covers ground for Coho as they move along the ledge. Deep drift jigging with metal jigs or leadhead jigs and swimbaits reaches Halibut on the bottom, and metal jigs and swimbaits worked into the rock take Lingcod along with Copper and Black Rockfish, which hold from late spring through summer. The exposed outer position and pronounced depth change funnel bait and fish tight to the drop-off.
