Blake Island's South Point is a rocky drop-off in Seattle's Puget Sound waters, sloping from around 40 feet down to 200 feet with moderate exposure. The rock structure holds lingcod, which peak in January and again from February through April, while Chinook salmon move through from July to September and coho run from June into October. Anglers work the lingcod over the drop-off by jigging with metal jigs, leadhead jigs with swimbaits, or bucktail jigs, and back that up with live greenling or herring along the rock. For Chinook and coho, trolling cut-plug herring, whole herring, flashers with hoochies, and trolling spoons covers the water as the fish transit the point. Mooching cut-plug or whole herring and jigging metal jigs work the same salmon at depth along the contour.
