Allen Point is a mid-exposure drop-off in Tacoma waters within DFO subarea 13, where a mixed bottom falls away through depths of 260 to 660 feet. The structure draws Chinook Salmon at their peak from June through September and Coho Salmon from July into October, with anglers working the edge by trolling cut-plug herring, flashers, and trolling spoons. Pacific Halibut hold near the bottom here from March through August and respond to drift jigging with leadhead jigs and swimbaits or bait fished on spreader bars. Lingcod concentrate over the rock from March through June and take metal jigs and leadhead jigs with swimbaits along the slope. Black Rockfish stay available year-round across the mixed bottom, working best on jigged metal jigs and swimbaits.
