Big Bank sits off La Perouse in the outer exposed waters near Bamfield, British Columbia, a rocky pinnacle that rises through depths of 120 to 240 feet. The structure holds lingcod, which peak from February through April and again from July through September, alongside Pacific halibut that move through from March to August. Chinook and coho salmon run the surrounding water from May into late summer, with coho extending through September. Anglers work the pinnacle and rock bottom with metal jigs and swimbaits for lingcod, while drift jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics or metal jigs covers the deeper flats for halibut. Salmon come to trolled anchovy, herring, and flashers along the exposed edges, with hootchies and trolling spoons producing on coho.
