Kirby Point sits on the outer exposed coast near Bamfield, British Columbia, a mixed rocky spot where the bottom drops through a range of 10 to 60 feet. Chinook Salmon are the main draw here from May through August, with Coho Salmon following through a May to September peak. Trolling anchovy, herring, flashers, and hootchies covers the water over the rock structure and holds Chinook, while mooching whole or cut-plug herring and jigging metal jigs work the same depths. For Coho, trolling hootchies, spoons, cut-plug herring, and flashers is the dominant approach, backed by bucktailing and drift jigging when fish sit higher in the column. The rock bottom and exposed setting keep bait and current moving across the shallower shelf and the deeper edge alike.
