Hump 1.0 km E of Orange Point is a rocky pinnacle rising off Campbell River, with mid-exposure structure and depths running from 15 to 120 feet. Lingcod hold tight to the rock here, peaking May through June and again August through September, while Pacific Halibut work the deeper flanks from April into September. Chinook Salmon move through the water column from June to August, with Coho following from May into September. Anglers target the lingcod by jigging metal jigs or leadhead jigs with swimbaits over the pinnacle, and drop leadhead jigs or swimbaits on the drift for halibut along the deeper edges. Salmon come mainly to trolled spoons, herring, and hootchies worked across the structure, with mooching cut-plug herring a productive alternative for Chinook.
