About Marina Reef

Marina Reef is an outer-exposed rocky pinnacle in DFO subarea 13-15 off Campbell River, British Columbia, rising through depths of 35 to 270 feet. The rock structure holds a strong rockfish population, with Black Rockfish peaking from May through September alongside Blue Rockfish, Copper Rockfish, and Kelp Greenling. Lingcod work the same terrain, most active May through June and again August through September, and both hold well to jigging with metal jigs, leadhead jigs with swimbaits, or bucktail jigs over the pinnacle. Chinook Salmon move through from June to August and Coho from May to September, taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies across the exposed edges. Anglers working the deeper flanks with soft plastic swimbaits or whole herring reach fish holding tight to the rock.
