Rebecca Spit Hump

Rebecca Spit Hump is a rock pinnacle rising from mid-exposure water off Campbell River, with depths ranging from 125 to 485 feet. The structure holds Pacific Halibut, which peak from April through September, alongside Lingcod that run strongest in May and June and again from August into September. Chinook Salmon move through from June to August and Coho from May to September, while the deeper rock also supports Rougheye and Darkblotched Rockfish, Sablefish, and Pacific Cod. Anglers work the pinnacle for halibut with drift jigging using leadhead jigs, swimbaits, or metal jigs, and back that up with bait fishing whole herring, salmon bellies, octopus, or squid near the bottom. Lingcod come to metal and leadhead jigs worked over the rock, and salmon are typically taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies through the water column above the structure.
