About Longbeak Point

Longbeak Point is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off in DFO subarea 14-15 off Comox, British Columbia, where the bottom falls away through depths of roughly 260 to 660 feet. Chinook Salmon hold here through the summer with a peak from June to August, while Coho Salmon run from May into September, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies across the ledge. The rock structure supports a strong Lingcod fishery that peaks in the winter months of January through March and again from May through September, with jigging metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs working the drop-off face. Black Rockfish concentrate over the same rock from June to August and respond to metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits. Canary Rockfish and Pacific Cod round out the mix along this exposed edge.
