About Union Point

Union Point is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off in DFO subarea 14-15 off Comox, British Columbia, where the bottom falls from around 260 to 660 feet. Chinook Salmon peak here from June through August, with Coho Salmon running from May into September and Lingcod holding through January to March and again from May to September. Trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies works the water column for Chinook and Coho, while mooching cut-plug herring is a productive supporting approach for salmon along the structure. Lingcod and Black Rockfish come off the rock on metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and swimbaits worked close to the bottom. The steep contour also holds Pacific Cod and Pacific Herring, with Black Rockfish most active from June through August.
