About Denman Point

Denman Point is an outer-exposed rock drop-off in DFO subarea 14-15 off Comox, British Columbia, where the bottom falls from 260 to 660 feet. Chinook Salmon hold through the summer here with a peak from June to August, while Coho Salmon run from May into September and Lingcod stay active from January to March and again from May to September. Trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies along the drop-off works the Chinook, and the same spoons and hootchies, along with bait teasers and flashers, cover the Coho. Lingcod respond to metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs fished down against the rock structure, with whole herring, live greenling, or squid as a supporting approach. The steep rock face also holds Copper Rockfish, Canary Rockfish, and Pacific Cod through much of the year.
