Danger Reefs is a mid-exposure kelp reef off Cowichan, British Columbia, where rock bottom drops through depths of 40 to 120 feet. The reef holds Lingcod at their strongest from June through August and Chinook Salmon from June into September, while Rockfish work the structure year-round. Anglers targeting lingcod jig swimbaits, metal jigs, and bucktail jigs over the rock, or drift live greenling and small rockfish along the edges. Chinook come to downrigger trolling with anchovy in a teaser head, hootchies, spoons, and flashers, with mooching cut-plug herring a productive alternative over the same depths. For rockfish, metal jigs, leadhead jigs with soft plastics, and swimbaits worked close to the reef stay effective across all twelve months.
