West Muchalat Inlet Hump is a rocky pinnacle rising from the outer exposed waters off Gold River, British Columbia, with depths running from 80 to 440 feet. The structure holds Pacific Halibut, which peak from March through August, alongside Lingcod that peak February through April and again in August and September. Chinook Salmon move through from May to September and Coho follow from June into October, while the rocky bottom also supports Canary Rockfish, Pacific Ocean Perch, Copper Rockfish, and Sablefish. Anglers work the deeper contours for halibut with drift jigging using leadhead jigs and soft plastics or metal jigs, and target lingcod tight to the rock with metal jigs and swimbaits. Salmon are taken over the pinnacle by trolling herring, anchovy, and spoons, with mooching cut-plug herring an option when fish hold closer to the structure.
